What is MCP and how it changes outbound sales
Model Context Protocol lets AI assistants control your outbound tools directly. Here is what that means for sales teams.
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude, Cursor, and Windsurf connect to external tools and take actions on your behalf. Instead of copy-pasting between your AI chat and your sales tools, the agent can call those tools directly.
How MCP works
An MCP server exposes a set of tools. Your AI assistant discovers these tools and can call them during a conversation. The server executes the action and returns the result. From the user's perspective, you just describe what you want in chat and the agent figures out which tools to use.

What this means for outbound

With MCP, the AI agent handles all of it from a single interface. You describe your target market, it finds leads. You ask for research, it scrapes and summarizes. You ask for emails, it writes them with context from the research. You say send, it sends from your Gmail account.
Why composable tools beat workflows
Traditional outbound platforms are built around workflows you configure in advance. MCP tools are different: the AI agent decides how to chain them based on your instructions. That means you can run the same tools in different orders, skip steps, add steps, or mix them with other MCP tools you have installed.
If you want to find leads, research them, write emails, review the emails yourself, then send manually, the agent can do exactly that. If you want it fully automated, it can do that too. The control stays with you.
