How to automate outbound with AI agents
A practical guide to using AI agents for finding leads, writing personalized emails, and running outbound sequences through chat.
Outbound has always required too many tools. One to find leads, one to enrich them, one to write emails, one to send sequences, one to track replies. AI agents can now handle every step, but only if the tools are designed for them to use.
What makes outbound different with AI agents
Traditional outbound automation is rigid. You build a sequence, upload a list, hit send. The workflow is fixed. AI agents are different: they can reason about which leads to target, what angle to use, and how to personalize each message based on context.
The key is giving agents the right tools. AgentReacher exposes outbound primitives as MCP tools: lead finding, enrichment, research, email generation, sending, and reply classification. The agent decides how to chain them.
The workflow in practice
Here is what running outbound through an AI agent looks like:
- Tell your agent who to target. "Find 30 SaaS founders in the Netherlands with under 20 employees." The Lead Finder MCP returns a structured list with company names, websites, and metadata.
- Let it do the research. "Research these companies and find relevant outreach angles." The Research MCP scrapes each website, generates a summary, and suggests angles specific to each company.
- Generate personalized emails. "Write a cold email for each company using the research." The Personalization MCP generates first lines and full messages that reference specific company context, not generic templates.
- Send and follow up. "Send these emails from my Gmail and schedule a follow-up in 4 days." The Outreach MCP sends from your real address and queues the sequence.
- Handle replies. "Show me all replies and classify them." The Reply Handler MCP fetches and categorizes replies as interested, objecting, or not interested.
Why composable tools matter
Each step is isolated. If the leads are bad, you fix the lead finder prompt. If the emails are too generic, you adjust the personalization prompt. You can debug each stage independently and improve the workflow over time.
This is very different from traditional outbound tools where the whole pipeline is opaque. With MCP tools, every step is transparent and controllable through your AI assistant.
